In the open mind and open hearted spirit of seeking faith through wisdom, we'd like to give you a heads-up to Bruce Feiler discussing his new book Where God was Born: A Journey to the Roots of Religion. Check it out Thursday, Feb. 8, 7 p.m., at University Temple United Methodist Church, 1415 NE 43rd St., Seattle, in the U-District.
Publishers Weekly writes that Bruce Feiler's new book is "another absorbing blend of travelogue, history, Bible commentary, memoir, current events and passionate preaching." While most spiritual traditions preach a message of peace, so often these days we associate religion with violence. Feiler embarked on a daring search for biblical sites in the Middle East to follow the roots of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam and to better understand the sources of shared hope and peace we all long for. (From the Reading Allowed events calendar)
Part of the Seattle Spiritual Reading Series co-sponsored by the University District Interfaith Alliance. $5 suggested donation at the door.
